There were four boats, launched 1954–1955: X51 Stickleback, launched 1 October 1954, 12:30hrs, sold to the Royal Swedish Navy in 1958 and was renamed Spiggen X52 Shrimp, launched October 1954, scrapped 1965 X53 Sprat, launched 30 December 1954, loaned to US Navy 1958, scrapped 1966 X54 Minnow,

The compartment bulkheads lie on the same stations as the temporary molds, so you’d use 4mm marine plywood as the molds for stations #2 and #6 and epoxy them to the planking. The XE-class submarines were a series of twelve midget submarines that were built for the Royal Navy during 1944; four more to a slightly different design were built 1954-5 as the Stickleback class. They were an improved version of the X class used in the attack on the German battleship Tirpitz. X51 Stickleback, launched 1 October 1954, 12:30hrs, sold to the Royal Swedish Navy in 1958 and was renamed Spiggen (Swedish name for "Stickleback"). Sweden decommissioned her in 1970 and after a few years returned to the UK. Captain's Ship's Book of HMS STICKLEBACK (X51), a midget submarine of the Shrimp Class which was launched in October 1954 and then sold to Sweden in July 1958; the book contains details of the submarine's dimensions as well as particulars of her battery and machinery, and includes reports of inspections and trials, and safety certificates, 1954 - 1964.

I have to say that this is one of the cleverest, most impressive sites I think I have ever seen anywhere in Scotland – it's extraordinary!" Naval service: Stickleback was sold to the Royal Swedish Navy in 1958 and renamed Spiggen, and Sprat was lent to the US Navy at about the same time, to test harbour defences. Although stricken in 1970 the Spiggen was returned to the UK in 1977 for preservation at the Submarine Museum in Gosport.
